Information about the non-acceptance of Mr. Adnan's complaint in relation to the text published on the N1 portal 13.01.2025

In the section of the complaint that refers to N1, the complainant states that the text claims that the citizens of Sweden receive brochures with instructions on how to defend themselves and secure supplies. He points out that it was stated that the Swedes, Finns and Norwegians were given brochures with instructions for dealing with a war or a crisis, and that millions of the Swedes receive pamphlets with advice on how to prepare and deal with a war or an unexpected crisis.

Adnan further states that the text mentions the instruction "If there is a war or crisis on", which was last updated by the Swedish Government six years ago, and that the population is now receiving new instructions due to the worsening security situation, primarily due to the war in Ukraine. The text also mentions similar measures in Norway and Finland.

The complainant emphasized that it is not true that anyone in Sweden is preparing for war or that any pamphlets are being published on that occasion, and that such intoned texts not only spread incorrect information, but also create an atmosphere that can cause unnecessary panic in the public.

Acting on the complaint, the Media Council for Self-Regulation informed the complainant that the portal N1 is not a member of the Council and that it is a media from another country, which is why the Council, in accordance with its scope and competences, is not able to consider complaints related to the reporting of that media. It was explained to the complainant that in cases where the complaint refers to media that are not members of the Council, it cannot be taken into consideration.
